Leon and Jimmy get married to their girlfriends, and Hinckley United....

A lot of my spare time was spent at Hinckley United where i took a lot of photographs of the games that were being played there. Taking endless photographs of Hinckley and the Princes Feathers football teams were great. That’s where i met Leon Simmons and Jimmy Gee and their wives to be (Helen and Stacey). I photographed each of their weddings and had a great time doing them.

Leon with his ‘mafia’ of mates all of whom were, in fact, great guys who weren’t wearing knuckle dusters and ready to jump me either.

Helen’s brother was handy with the baby sitting duties.
Here are some of the many Hinckley United pictures i got:

    1. The action shots were all shot at ridiculously high speeds - they had to be!

  2. Great photos Terry! I love the action shots, they are so "real" if you know what I mean! The first photo made me laugh, the boys all look so serious except the one with the white shirt smiling!

  3. Wow, these shots are incredible! You really did well. It's not easy to capture action shots. People move around so quickly, especially in sports, and a lot of the time images end up blurry. Nicely done!

    1. Thanks Martha. Your miniature photos make me say wow, though. You do them with such expertise.

  4. I agree, your action shots are very professional. All the photos are so well done. The soccer players are so intensely focused on getting that ball and you captured what was there.

I love that first photo of the men having their idle hands in their pockets and it's not to hide their brass knuckles, lol. It's just what men do and you captured that too.

Helen's brother and the older boys are seriously interested in watching something on the screen, obviously but the little one is the only one aware that you're taking a photo of him. I bet he'll be the next great photographer.

    1. Hi Julia, thanks. I’d photographed Leon and Jimmy hundreds of times. They knew I could do the job as well as anyone could and would charge at cost. I knew them well and it was a no-brainer. I knew how important the day was for them. They knew I knew.
The football photographs were the result of thousands of photographs I took. They felt privileged that I was there to record their story.

  6. Thanks Jenny. I was so confident about the pictures. They saw the albums I produced and couldn’t thank me enough.

Go for it, Terry...and to hell with what others think! Dye your hair whatever colour you wish...the brighter the better...a new colour each week. :And if anyone gets in the way, run them over with your wheel chair' don't apologise...just tell them they were warned! Plait your bead; dreadlock it; curl it; dye it, too...wax it...do whatever you want. It's your life.

Being different is being you...keep being you! :)

Marathons? Not for me. My eldest brother used to run them. Once when running with his sons he outpaced them, finished, and then ran back to finish the race again with them. As teenagers I have no doubt they were peeved to be out run by their father.

  13. Stopping over here to talk about your fishing post because the comments were missing from some reason. I used to fish quite a bit about 3 years ago, but now if someone asks me to go fishing, I grab a shady spot and read a book. (lol) Hugs...RO

  16. Comments didn't show up on the Kray post, so I decided to comment here. That must have been interesting to have uncles or brothers that people really noticed and paid attention to like that. I've heard of the Kray brothers and they were pretty frightening. Hugs...RO

  19. Terry, I haven't commented so much lately because of the issues with commenting but I want you to know I'm reading!
People who tell you you're lucky to be alive haven't thought about what they are saying, the only person who gets to decide if you are happy with your life is you.
You talked about young people who should listen to advice but what about giving it? I see my son doing things that I am sure he will regret but he hasn't asked my opinion and so I stay silent. Maybe I shouldn't.....
