The world’s loneliest man

The newspaper’s reffered to him as the world’s loneliest man. I was reading about him. He lives in South America and was cutting down trees. He is a protected species and left to be on his own. But how did he end up like this? I know exactly how he feels because i’m pretty much on my own too. I hate to admit iI but i know exactly how he feels and how he ended up where he has. It is the same for me. If only i could turn back time i would change everything and start again.

One thing i’d like to know about him is: who does he turn fo if he needs help. What happens if he has a stroke, for instance? He’d be buggered! And what if he ended up like me? Chopping down trees and living without anyone nagging at you sounds wonderful but sooner or later you’d rely on someone else to help you out.

  1. You're right -- sooner or later we all need a hand. And I suppose if we don't get it, we either survive in some way or we don't. And eventually we don't survive anyway, no matter how much help we get. I feel like I've just talked myself in a circle :)

    1. We all need help in someway or another. Human contact is what we crave. We don’t think we need it, but in the end we do.

  2. We all do need help. Sometimes. Or, we can not accept help and accept the consequences. Or, we can accept the help, but constantly complain that it is not enough help. Or we can be grateful for the help that we do get, even tho it may not be exactly what we had hoped for. And some who cannot live or choose not to live without a lot of help go through all these stages before acceptance of help.

    1. It must be great to live without any help. I don’t think it’s possible though.

  3. Echoing jenny_o. And acknowledging that I find it hard to ask for help. Which is silly.

    1. You should never refuse help and I don’t think you would

  4. That is an interesting way to live. Not many could do it.

    1. Just think of the peace and quiet you’d get.

  5. I'm not the greatest at asking for help when I ned it. Most time I'll try to do things by myself but in the end if I can't do it by myself, I'll reluctantly ask for help. It must be the independent streak in me.
It reminds me of a little book I read to my children when they were young. The Little Engine That Could. The little Engine had difficulty going up the hill and kept saying I think I can, I think I can, I think I can. lol. I guess I don't know if I can until I try.

    1. It’s impossible to say whether anybody could do it. It sounds like a reality programme.
